Problem

Modura is a progressive clothing company that specializes in semi-formal office and streetwear. They requested three screens to mockup from scratch with original typography, branding and iconography. They requested a log in screen, a shopping page and an individual item page.

Solution

Design a progressive UX that invites users to shop around and explore clothing items. Carefully choose branding to evoke modernity and style.

Login Screen

The brand isn't catered to a specific gender so I thought it was important to have an image with two sexes on the login screen. A lot of their clothing involves neutral blues and browns so I used a navy blue as the primary color which contrasted nicely over the beige wardrobes and the off white background in the rest of the app.

Product Pages

Product pages tend to hold a lot of info and can often get very cluttered very quickly. I did my best to limit the amount in info thrown at the user and only display what was necessary. The icons I created fit in well and each serve a purpose, everything deliberately placed.

Logo Sketching

One thing I love about sketching is getting all the bad ideas out of my system. I often find that my final choice looks nothing like my original sketch. You can see that on full display here. Going from abstract sketches to a completely simple approach. Modura is a modern, 'less is more' kind of brand and I wanted the logo to reflect that.

MODURA

Conclusion

This was my first go at designing an eCommerce experience as well as a fashion based UX. Following the simplicity of the brand and a 'less is more' approach, I think I achieved the goal of providing a straightforward shopping experience.

Creating the branding along with the app allowed for me to get a more holistic understanding of the experience. Sometimes just creating a digital product without the branding can be limiting (or vice versa), whereas here I was able to get the entire picture and tie both into each other.
